Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) allows its subscribers to check their Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) balance using Universal Account Number (UAN). With Umang app and EPFO portal, it’s now easier to check EPF balance check online.
You can even use EPFO SMS service to know your balance.
There are four ways to check EPF account balance- EPFO portal, UMANG app, missed call and SMS service. If your UAN is integrated with your KYC details, you can send a text message to get your PF balance details. Type EPFOHO UAN ENG and send the SMS on the number 7738299899. You will receive your PF balance details in the SMS.
However, users need to activate their UAN number for all these methods and this can be done through the official portal itself. In case you do not remember your UAN, you can still check EPF balance easily. You can check PF balance by giving a missed call on 011-229014016 from the registered mobile number. In this case, you are not required to provide the UAN number. However, they need to be registered on the UAN portal and have the KYC details seeded in their account.
How you can check EPF balance check without UAN number:
Step 1: Log in at EPF home page of epfindia.gov.in
Step 2: Click on ‘Click Here to Know your EPF Balance”
Step 3: You will be redirected to epfoservices.in/epfo/. Go to “Member Balance Information”
Step 4: Select your state and click at your EPFO office link
Step 5: Enter your PF Account Number, name and registered mobile number
Step 6: Click on ‘Submit’ and your PF balance will be displayed.
This will activate the UAN and the password will be sent to the mobile number. Subscribers can, however, check PF balance only six hours after activating UAN. PF account holders can also check their EPF balance without UAN number by logging in at passbook.epfindia.gov.in.
It is worth mentioning that EPFO allows the individuals to transfer their EPF account from the previous employer to a new employer. This process can be done both online and offline. This facility can be availed from the member e-sea portal. Before you start with the online EPF account transfer process, make sure you have activated your UAN on the Member e-SEWA portal.
