WORLD WILDLIFE DAY – 3rd February !!

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 20th December 2013, at its 68th session decided to proclaim 3rd March, the international day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Wildlife on the planet raise awarensess and benefits fauna and flora in 1973, as World Wildlife Day, which was proposed by Thailand, to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild Fauna and Flora.

World Wildlife Day is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora, to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to people. At the same time, the Day reminds us of the urgent need to step up the fight against wildlife crime and human-induced reduction of species, which have wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts.

The theme of World Wildlife Day 2020, “Sustaining all life on Earth”, encompasses all wild animal and plant species as a component of biodiversity, as well as the livelihoods of people, especially those who live closest to the nature.
